8 Artists 8 Positions

Eight artists had displayed artworks addressing diverse subjects in a group art exhibition at Kalakendra on Iqbal Road, Mohammadpur in the capital.

The 22-day exhibition titled ‘8 Artists 8 Positions’ began on September 3 and was open till September 24. The exhibition is featuring 46 artworks. The participating artists were A H Dhali Tomal, Fareha Zeba, Salma Zakia Bristy, Murshed Jahangir, Razib Datta, Sanjib Datta, Afsana Hasan Shejuty and Shamir Ahmed Hemel.

Artists displayed artworks created using different mediums, including charcoal, acrylic, ink and others. They have addressed issues like childhood memories, the Covid-19 crisis, the relationship between humans and nature, violence against religious minorities and more. Curator Wakilur Rahman said, “Artists and art galleries in the country were hit hard by the Covid-19 crisis. Besides, Kalakendra had to close its doors to visitors several times due to the Covid situation.  The on-going exhibition can be considered a warm-up event for the artists, who are participating in an exhibition after a long hiatus.”
